We all have a little gypsy in us. Before we were city dwellers we were nomads. It is in our blood to want to explore and to be free in spirit. However many of us, myself including have stifled that inner longing with the pressures of daily life and the expectations of others. However, eventually that calling gets louder and louder and you can choose to respond to the inner voice that tells you that you destined for greater things.
If you check out the Wikipedia definition of a Bohemian, it will go something like this:
“Bohemianism is the practice of an unconventional lifestyle, often in the company of like-minded people and with few permanent ties. It involves musical, artistic, literary or spiritual pursuits. In this context, Bohemians may or may not be wanderers, adventurers, or vagabonds.
This use of the word bohemian first appeared in the English language in the nineteenth century to describe the non-traditional lifestyles of marginalized and impoverished artists, writers, journalists, musicians, and actors in major European cities.
Bohemians were associated with unorthodox or anti-establishment political or social viewpoints, which often were expressed through free love, frugality, and—in some cases—voluntary poverty. A more economically privileged, wealthy, or even aristocratic bohemian circle is sometimes referred to as haute bohème (literally "high Bohemia").
The term Bohemianism emerged in France in the early nineteenth century when artists and creators began to concentrate in the lower-rent, lower class, Romani neighborhoods. Bohémien was a common term for the Romani (gypsy) people of France…”
Today, a Modern Bohemian movement is emerging among young entrepreneurs who refuse to live by society’s standards of having a traditional job or lifestyle. They seek fulfillment, adventure, and freedom. They are the Dreamers, the Healthy Vibrant Souls, The Restless Wanderers, The Artists, The Digital Nomads, The Sun Seekers, The Ocean Lovers, and the Free Spirits.
Welcome to the New Bohemia. It is not tied to a location or a place of origin. It is a state of mind. Right now we live in the New Golden Age. This is the time people have dreamed of for centuries. This is the age of the Digital Nomads who take the World Wide Web by the horns and make money roaming around with not much more than their phones and their laptops. These brave souls have learned how to break away from the norm, to use their gifts to serve humanity and to live in abundance and freedom. They are the bloggers, the YouTubers, the Social Media consultants, and the life-coaches. They are the professional travelers and we love them because they inspire us with their excitement and zest for life. They remind us of what we long for.
Even if you are currently committed to having a job or a mortgage or other big commitments, but you are longing for that sense of freedom, you can still cultivate your gifts now and build your platform to serve people from anywhere in the world. You have the gift inside of you. It has never been easier to share your gift with the masses than it is today. Take the opportunity and bet on yourself. You have treasure locked up inside of you and you are worth the risk.
I am wishing you a life of fulfillment in abundance.
